Talisay was founded in 1648 as an estate owned by the Augustinians. In 1849, it was converted into a municipality with Silverio Fernandez as its first gobernadorcillo and Pedro Labuca as captain.
Some accounts claim that Talisay got its name from the Magtalisay trees which are widely abundant in certain areas of the municipality, while others claim that Talisay got its name from a town in Spain.
TALISAY CITY: being a third class city of Cebu Province is abundant in the aspect of its History, Culture, Heritage and Tourism. Moreover, the Talisaynons, spiritually, have seemingly stood strong over the years of unwavering Faith and great Devotion to their patron St. Teresa of Avila. Everything this blog shows is a mere sharing of how grateful I am of my city -- which has a special participation of molding me of who I am today :)
